District 10 Schoolhouse

To add to your list of Nationally Registered Historic Places, take a trip to the District 10 Schoolhouse near Linwood, NE. As one of the few remaining one-room schoolhouses in Nebraska, the District 10 Schoolhouse offers a glimpse into the history of rural education in early Nebraska. Established around 1869, the schoolhouse offered free education to the many new young residents of Butler County. After nearly a century, and a few minor adaptations to the building, the schoolhouse officially closed its door in 1974. It is now one of the 4 rural schoolhouses known to remain in existence today in Nebraska.
